HELSINKI, FINLAND. September 30, 2024Netcontrol is excited to announce a large new partnership with Elinett, a medium sized electric utility in Norway, ensuring a safe and stable power network for its over 33,000 customers. With this partnership, Elinett will transfer to the Netcon 3000 SCADA system. This shift enhances the reliability and efficiency of Elinett’s energy distribution network, combining Netcontrol’s advanced automation and control system expertise with Elinett’s extensive knowledge of grid operations, management and maintenance.

Netcontrol provides Elinett with the Netcon 3000, which is a modern, resourceful supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for energy generation and distribution. Built upon over three decades of experience, the Netcon 3000 is flexible and easily expandable to business needs, with strict cybersecurity. The Netcon 3000 system at Elinett is developed for 30,000 process points and 8 operators, enabling the improvement of Elinett’s service delivery for operation and careful monitoring of its supply network.

Elinett was looking for a SCADA system that can be updated and patched on a regular basis. An important requirement was to have access to the company’s own data stream in real time as well as a stable and modern platform with the possibility to fully control and automize Elinett’s power grid, for example in the event of a power outage. Elinett also had an earlier experience working with Netcontrol through their acquisition of Nesset kraft AS in 2021. The collaboration between the two companies was excellent and Elinett was pleased with the management of Netcontrol. With a strong focus on security and a consideration of the cost-benefit analysis, Netcontrol’s good standing with its current SCADA customers and a competitive price compared with others in the same market solidified the decision to begin the partnership.

The plans for the company’s future are strongly supported by the partnership between Netcontrol and Elinett. In order to continue the distribution of sustainable energy to their customers and to utilize Elinett’s power grid in a smarter way, the company will for example improve its digitalization and collect critical data with the help of sensors. Together, Netcontrol and Elinett are committed to delivering solutions that will support the ongoing green transition and ensure a better future for people in the Romsdal area.
